Newsletter from the Head – Week 11

Dear Parents and Guardians

Summer has finally arrived and we have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunities to be out and about this week, making the most of the weather. A busy fixture list, an outstanding concert from the Soul and Big Bands, House Dinners, Prep Sports Day, LAMDA examinations…the list goes on and all alongside a productive week in the classroom. Today our Third Form historians leave for a poignant visit to the Battlefields and on Saturday our musicians head to Devon on their annual tour. External examinations are now behind us and our focus really does turn to the new school year; on Monday we welcomed our new First Form starters in the annual ‘Six Mix’ day – a chance for pupils to get to know their peers.

There are so many things to look forward to in the final week of term and I look forward to seeing parents at as many of these occasions as possible. Please do check the calendar carefully for precise arrangements.

End of Term Event Parking

Next week, we'll be hosting a series of events to celebrate the end of the academic year. We kindly request that all parents make use of the parking available on our Far New sports pitches. These are located on the right side as you enter the grounds from the main drive. Please note that the only appropriate entrance to this parking area is adjacent to the Tookey’s/Derbyshire building.

With many guests visiting during these two days, we ask that you park considerately to accommodate all Denstone College families who will be joining us.

Sports Day Gazebo Setup Instructions

For those planning to bring gazebos to the Sports Finals on Saturday 6 July, we ask that you set them up no earlier than 5.30pm on Friday 5 July. We have a packed schedule of activities on the Athletics track that day, and it is essential to keep the area clear until then. Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring a smooth setup for everyone.

Parents are invited to attend the CCF Pass off the Square parade on Thursday 4 July at 4.30pm.  It will take place at the front of school.

With kindest regards,
