Newsletter from the Head – Week 2

Dear Parents and Guardians

We are now firmly in the rhythm and routine of school life and it is wonderful to see such purposeful work. The Upper Sixth are working hard at their mock exams, and our focus is very much on improvement and quality; they will use this as a helpful springboard to future successes.

Elsewhere, so much continues apace and I look forward to seeing so many of you on the touchlines this weekend – alongside many Old Denstonians from the 1940s, 50s and 60s!

Registration for 2025 Entry

Although term is only just underway, we are already making preparations for our 2025 intake of new pupils; the Assessment Days for entry to the school are scheduled for November. If you have other children who are considering joining Denstone in September 2025 and have not yet registered, please use this link to secure their place on the Assessment Day: https://forms.office.com/e/2hp7qapi9f

Lower Sixth Parents

There are two key university open day seasons, September/October and June/July. In order to help your child make the best informed decisions about their future, we recommend starting early with open day visits in order to fit them all in before their UCAS applications this time next year. You can use www.opendays.com to view the open day calendar and book your place at the event. Visiting universities can help students focus on their future goals and provide that much needed motivation.

Return2Play

We are delighted to be working in partnership with Return2Play, injury management and concussion specialists.   There is growing concern over head injuries in sport and this allows us to support our pupils and you as parents, particularly in the hours and days following the incident.  To ensure your child has full access to this invaluable service, please ensure you have registered for your parent account. Further information and instructions on how to do this can be found in the Return2Play letter via the Parent Portal.
