On Tuesday pupils and staff enjoyed the 19th NCO Dinner. The dinner was held for our Upper and Lower 6th NCOs to thank them for all their hard work in helping run the CCF training throughout the year.

The event is run along the lines of a formal 'Mess' evening with expectations on dress, behaviour, speeches made, and thanks being given, in the correct manner. Twenty-four impeccably dressed cadets arrived, on time for the pre-dinner Pimms, despite never being on time for training on a Thursday!

Pupils and staff enjoyed a wonderful four-course meal, which included cheese and biscuits. The tables had been decorated with the CCF Mess silver and trophies and looked incredibly smart. Thank you to our catering team who really made everything special.

Luke Hobbs (Head of Army Section), Charlie Watts (Head of RAF Section) and Callum Willis (Head of CCF) all gave wonderful end of dinner speeches alluding to late nights being wet and cold in the training areas, how hard it is teaching 4th Form cadets, the lack of sleep and the fun of cooking ration packs.

The evening would not be complete without a few stories from over the years, which were great to hear. The night ended with a toast to the Queen and to Denstone College.
