Newsletter from the Head – Week 4

Dear Parents and Guardians

Thank you for your continued support of the College and your children as we continue to seek excellence and participation in so many areas of College life. An outstanding week putting Denstone Hockey on the map alongside a brilliant evening of Second Form Drama shows that children really do have so many opportunities to shine. I am incredibly proud to be Head and the future is looking very bright.

The purpose of a newsletter is not to bombard parents with information - indeed it is the opposite - to streamline communication. To that end, I ask that you make time to go through the weekly newsletter and to add key dates to your diary. I recognise that communications with schools is sometimes clunky and complex, but we are working hard to streamline our work to make it as simple as possible and we are grateful for your cooperation in this matter.

Third Form Parents’ Evening: Thursday 16 February

Upper Sixth Form Parents’ Evening: Tuesday 28 February

Study Leave: Pupils in the Upper Sixth and Fifth Form now have their confirmed exam timetables for the Summer series. To that end, I write to confirm that optional study leave can begin for Upper Sixth pupils at the end of school on Friday 12 May and Fifth Form study leave can begin following fixtures on Saturday 13 May.

Please note that we encourage all of our pupils to be in school through to the very end to make the most of quiet, supervised study spaces and access to teachers and resources to aid their revision. Please also ensure every child is free and available on Wednesday 28 June – this is the national ‘contingency day’ should there be interruption to examinations.

Sports Tours 2023/24

We are delighted to announce our proposed sports tour destinations for current Lower Sixth, Fifth Form and selected Fourth Form. Please see the Parent Portal for further information.
