Newsletter from the Head – Week 2
Dear Parents and Guardians
As we head into our first of two consecutive Bank Holiday weekends, I sense a feeling of disjoint and turbulence in routine and pattern setting and write to reassure you that these breaks are just an opportunity for our pupils to regroup, refresh and prepare for the next busy week ahead. Many of our international boarders will remain in College for these two weekends, but if any of our domestic children would like to invite a friend home for any part of these weekends, then I am sure a change of scenery will do everyone some good! Seeing quintessentially British life during a Coronation weekend particularly is an experience some of our boarders will never forget.
Please note that on Tuesday 9 May, we will be teaching the lessons from Monday 8 May to avoid children missing too many of the same subjects. Please do allow your children to take responsibility for what this means and which resources they will need with them for this day.
Bereavement
The College are devastated to learn of the untimely passing of two parents of two separate families in the last month. We are providing support to the families of those who have suffered such tragedies. However, we wish to remind all parents that the impact of these deaths ripple far and wide in our community and many of our children will be finding it hard to compute the injustice of this. Please be aware that all children will be signposted to areas where they can seek help and support and will be reminded who they can approach to talk. It is our duty to help children understand how to help their friends and we have been doing this subtly this term; details of our work and the resources we use can be available on request.
Most importantly however are our continued thoughts and prayers for these two families at this difficult time.
