Newsletter from the Head – Week 11
Dear Parents and Guardians
Storm Debi has certainly made her presence felt here on the top of the hill, but business has continued as usual. This week has been a particularly busy one having welcomed scores of new applicants interested in joining the College in September 2024. Many of these families are considering a Denstone education thanks to your advocacy and all that your children do in their wider communities to showcase themselves. It has been a genuine delight to see our pupils be such proud and helpful ambassadors and hosts of these major events in the school calendar.
Alongside this, we were treated to a wonderful evening of music on Tuesday with so many new children taking to the stage – some for the first ever time. I have also thoroughly enjoyed getting out and about to support our rugby teams playing under the lights and look forward to a varied sporting weekend ahead. Hosting the Staffordshire U19 netball tournament here was a true joy and seeing this sport really thrive here at Denstone is most encouraging. Our children are busy and November is a time where traditionally tiredness can really creep in and occasional lapses in judgement can occur; any reminders of recognising the need to be overtly positive during the cold dark months of November should be well reinforced at home. As ever, I am grateful for your careful attention of all contained within this newsletter and any subsequent required administration.
Christmas Fair
I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our Christmas Fair this Saturday from 12-4pm, in the Drill Hall. We have a variety of stalls including food and drinks and an Elf Workshop for the youngest members of our community. Additionally, Denstone Village will be hosting a Christmas Market, and the switching on of their Christmas lights on Sunday 19 November beginning at 4pm; supporting our local community is so important so please do mark this fun occasion in your diary.

Please note that this is a universal sale organised by our supplier and we cannot guarantee when the next one will be. If you wish to make the transition to the new uniform ahead of the September 2024 deadline, this may be a good opportunity to purchase discounted stock.
Head Lice
There has been a case of head lice discovered within school. Please can you check your child’s hair and only treat if lice are detected. Can you also remind your child not to share hairbrushes, towels etc.
