Denstone College welcomes back OD, Tom Ratclife

It was great to welcome back OD Tom Ratcliffe to speak to pupils about a career in veterinary science. Tom, who is currently in his 5th and final year at The University of Edinburgh, spoke to pupils about the role of a vet and the career options that it opens, along with how the industry is changing.

Tom spoke about how the studies Denstone pupils currently undertaking and the concepts that they are learning in their sciences are important, and how they apply to veterinary medicine.

Tom brought in Rufus the Labrador to show students how to perform a basic clinical exam. This included listening to his heart with a stethoscope, assessing hydration and a basic neurological exam.

A very informative seminar and it was great to meet Rufus!
