Girls at Denstone College have had a fantastic netball pre-season. The senior and U15 squads had a tough day’s training on the Thursday before returning to commence Lent term. It involved court specific skill training, ball skills, fitness as well as Strength and Conditioning in the Performance Centre gym with the newly appointed Head of Strength and Conditioning, Mr King. Following this two teams take on Staffordshire County netball teams. Both were strongly contested matches allowing lots of girls to take the court, new combinations to be tried and all girls coming away with smiles on their faces. Both teams’ performances improved throughout the game, showing potential and excitement for the season ahead.

For the junior girls, we held a pre-season training morning at the College, followed by Denstone having 4 teams playing in a tournament against Foremarke and Ashbourne NC. The whole day went really well, with lots of learning, enjoyment and gameplay. Our U13 girls were thrilled to beat Foremarke and it was fantastic to see some U12 girls having never played netball before, pick it up so well and show lots of potential. I am very much looking forward to my first term as Director of Netball at Denstone College and hope all the girls enjoy their netball immensely.
