The annual tennis doubles tournament between pupils, old Denstonians, parents and staff (P.O.P.S.) took place last Saturday on a baking hot afternoon

A record 32 pairs entered; perhaps some parents were press-ganged into taking part by their enthusiastic children but fun seemed to be had by all!  The LTA FAST4 format was used so that several matches were played in a short amount of time. After the initial round-robin, pairs moved into either the Trophy or Plate knock-out competitions. The overall winners for the third successive year were Fourth Former Mat Jobson and his father Paul who beat Fourth Former Jack Harding and his partner, Rupert Bowling (father of Six Former Lucy Bowling) in the final.

The Plate competition was won by Second Form pupil Tom Franks, partnered by new Maths teacher, Harriet Gill, who beat Fourth Form girls, Hannah Channing and Freya Nicklin. A great sociable afternoon of tennis to get everyone in the mood for Wimbledon!

Well done!
