At the end of 2021, Meynell 1st Former, Monica, and her mum did a presentation in Chapel with the theme of ‘Carter the Brave,’ who is Monica’s brother. The assembly focussed on uplifting yet quite emotional video charting Carter’s experiences and trials as he has battled with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Denstone has been honoured to be able to donate to Birmingham Children's Hospital and Charity
''After Monica joined Denstone College in September 2021, we had to ask for an afternoon off so that Monica could swim with me during my Swim Marathon! I was so delighted when Denstone immediately said this was fine but also set about learning all about our fundraising efforts over the last 6 years! Then it was such an incredible honour to be invited to the Chapel at the college to make a speech & show our video of Carter’s journey & the amazing journey of Team Carter & all that we have achieved as a team! As many of you will know, we currently stand at £268,000 to date!
No sooner had I arrived back at my office that same day than I received the most incredible email saying that Denstone had been so moved by our fundraising & the work that we have done with BCH that they would like to hold a non-uniform day in aid of CTB & make a donation of £1000 to CTB! This was such a generous & kind gesture of the college & we cannot thank them enough. Denstone decided to buy the next 50 x £20 Amazon Vouchers which are given to the newly diagnosed children of BCH & on the 27th January, Carter was able to present these vouchers to Ashleigh Adams of BCH Charity & to Lisa Green of Young Lives Versus Cancer. These Amazon Vouchers make such a difference to the children & they just brighten their day at a very dark time.
