PREP
|
In The Prep, lessons are complemented by playtime in our extensive grounds, as well as an extensive programme of trips and activities.
A Warm Welcome
The Prep at Denstone College offers a warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere with a high standard of pastoral care. We work hard to prioritise children’s enjoyment of school, providing a broad curriculum, together with a range of opportunities that help to build confidence and character and ensure each child’s potential is fulfilled.
As is characterised throughout TPDC, the Main Prep features small class sizes to ensure that we can provide excellent staff to pupil ratio and meet each child’s individual needs – and while the pace of learning may be fast, our curriculum is tailored to each pupil’s ability.
LIFE IN THE PREP
|
The school’s buildings, grounds, history, and the stunning surroundings of rural Staffordshire are comparable to any independent school setting in the country. Just as important is the ethos created by staff and pupils in our school community. It's the way we do things, it’s in our DNA. The Prep School provides an environment in which every pupil has the opportunity to flourish and be successful in their time at the school. These opportunities can be realised in the classroom, the sporting arena, outdoors, and on the stage, to name but a few |

My year at the prep was brilliant and I made so many great memories and friends. Though it was all amazing one of my highlights must be the year 6 residential. From the rock scramble to the canoeing and kayaking Whitehall was great. As it happened my birthday was during the residential and I will never forget how kind Mrs lea was by making it feel so special. It was an amazing conclusion to an awesome year.
Moving up to the college seemed daunting at first but after the first day I felt right at home there. For me one of the best things about the college is the amount of sport that we do. I always enjoy both training and fixtures (though the best part is singing on the bus on the way back).
I also had a lot of fun taking part in Shrek the school play and seeing it come together for the performance was just incredible.
This year has been a great one and I hope many happy years are yet to come.

In the Prep I really enjoyed the sport; the Prep exposed me to new sports I hadn’t done before. I now play rugby and cricket for clubs; I would be playing sport if it wasn’t for the Prep. Also, the teachers at the Prep were really kind and supportive. They helped me when I thought I couldn’t do it. I enjoyed making new friend when I moved up to the College, everyone was so welcoming.

Jacob
Prep Student
At the Prep, I liked the treehouse in Norris Wood and the prep sessions at the end of the day. However, my favourite thing about the Prep School was that the teachers were extremely helpful.
At the College, I like the freedom of break and the games sessions.
