As Head of The Prep, I often marvel at the vibrant tapestry of life that unfolds here each day. Life is undeniably busy, with a wealth of activities and events ensuring that there is always something happening. From the moment the school doors open, the buzz of excitement and energy is palpable, a testament to the joy and curiosity that fills our community.

For me, days are often packed with meetings and planning, but the true highlights are always the moments spent with the children. These are the times that make this role so rewarding and special. I am constantly amazed and delighted as children come to share their accomplishments, whether it’s a beautifully written story, a creative piece of artwork, or the mastery of a new skill. They pop into my office to sing their latest song, beam with pride as they demonstrate their learning, or enchant us all during performances like our carol services or music recitals. Each moment showcases the incredible talent and effort our children put into everything they do.

There’s something magical about witnessing their giggles over a shared hot chocolate, their fascination when programming Lego robots to complete challenges, or their excitement in explaining their Exploratory Study Foci. These moments of joy and discovery remind us why education is so much more than lessons; it’s about nurturing curiosity and celebrating individuality.

At The Prep, relationships lie at the heart of all we do. Our relational approach ensures every child feels valued, supported, and part of a community where kindness is key. The children have embraced our ready, respectful, and safe ethos, and it’s wonderful to see them proudly earning their paperchain links at breaktimes, a visible reminder of the positive contributions they make.

We celebrate an incredible diversity of achievements, both in and out of school. From Form of the Week awards to national science and maths competitions, and from sporting triumphs in rugby and hockey to cricket trophies and swimming badges earned at home, we delight in every success. Whether it’s a small act of kindness or a monumental achievement, each milestone is acknowledged and celebrated because every child’s journey is unique and worth recognising.
Life at The Prep is a constant celebration of growth, curiosity, and kindness. It’s a place where children not only learn but thrive, forming the foundations of character and confidence that will carry them far beyond our school gates. I consider it a privilege to witness their journeys and to share in their laughter, their discoveries, and their successes. Here at The Prep, every day is an adventure, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
