Newsletter - The Prep The Prep at Denstone College

What an exciting week it's been at the Prep. Filming has been taking place for a new marketing project, and our Prep pupils have been fantastic representatives of the school throughout. It's been great watching the pupils get stuck in, and who knows, maybe we'll see them gracing the big screen someday? I would like to thank parents for ensuring that your children came into school every day looking smart, with shoes polished and hair tied back. I was particularly proud of the pupils' conduct in Chapel, and I eagerly await the result of the project soon!

I would also like to extend my thanks to the whole community for bearing with us on Wednesday, when we lost water. Particularly, I am grateful to our ever-diligent maintenance team, who quickly installed portaloos to ensure the academic day could continue as normal.

Today from 2:30pm onwards, we will be hosting a coffee afternoon at the Prep, in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support. All are welcome, so please pop down if you have the time: it would be lovely to see you!

On Thursday, pupils will be deciding their House Charities. We have asked children to think about a local charity which school fundraising efforts could support, as we are keen to support the local community wherever possible. Please discuss ideas for charities with your children over the weekend, ahead of the decision making on Thursday.

I would also like to take this opportunity to remind students and parents that if a child's hair is longer than their shoulders, it must be tied back as part of the school uniform. Thank you for your cooperation.

Sport Fixtures News

On Tuesday, Years 3 and 4 have a change to their normal schedule. We have football and hockey fixtures in the afternoon so the lessons they normally have will be moved to the morning. Both year groups will be taught by their class teacher for their Maths and History lessons.

Terra Nova are bringing one girls hockey team and three boys football teams. The boys will play mixed matches on a rota system. In a change to the usual venue, the boys will play on Addies Astro and the girls will play on the Drive Astro.

It is extremely important that the boys bring their shin pads and astro trainers for the Tuesday fixtures. The girls need their mouth guards and shin pads.

On Friday we are back to 'normal' fixtures against OVS with the boys playing tag rugby on the Prep pitches (past the running track) and the girls will be on Addies Astro. The boys will need their mouth guards for rugby.

Open Morning Sat 1 October – reminder

Prep 5 will be acting as guides in the Prep from 1030-1200. Reception, Prep 1, 2, 3 and 4 need to be present from 1100-1200 please. Everyone needs to wear smart school uniform. Prep 4 will be having an outdoor lesson, so please leave wellies, waterproofs in school on Friday.
