Lent Term Week 11 Head of Prep Newsletter

Celebrating the End of a Super Lent Term

Dear Parents,

As we bid farewell to a fantastic Lent Term, I wanted to share some highlights from this week.

Our theme of the week across our whole school has been celebrating diversity and promoting the elimination of racial discrimination. It is important that we come together to embrace our differences and foster a culture of inclusivity in our whole school.

This week has been bustling with activities, including our uplifting Easter service and the final gymnastics session for our Pre-Prep pupils. It has been wonderful to see our youngest pupils enjoy gymnastics this half term. At this age they are naturally developing a sense of coordination and control of their bodies challenging their own mobility, balance, flexibility and core strength. As well as developing fundamental motor skills such as running and jumping, they are also developing spatial awareness and co-ordination which form the basis of so many sports they will participate in in the future. Gymnastics provides the perfect platform to develop these basic physical abilities, within an exciting and challenging environment and they have certainly had lots of fun!  Uttoxeter Gymnastics Club offer fun gymnastics sessions during the Easter holidays on a Tuesday and Friday between 0915 and 1015, if you are interested in booking please contact the Club on 07977206140.  Additionally, our Pre-Prep Easter egg hunt and egg rolling festivities brought joy to all. Our trip to Sudbury Museum provided a wonderful opportunity for learning outside the classroom for Pre-Prep.

Special thanks to the staff who took our Prep 3 children to Cadbury World for a delightful and memorable experience. Not only was it a fun-filled day of chocolate indulgence, but it also formed an integral part of our humanities curriculum.

The house music competition created a vibrant party atmosphere, enjoyed by both pupils and staff. A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated staff, especially Mrs John, whose commitment makes these enriching experiences possible for our children.

Thank you to all parents, family and friends who joined us for the end-of-term assembly, where we celebrated the individual achievements of our pupils. Congratulations to Beeches House for winning the House cup this term.

I hope you found this week's Parents’ Evening informative. Remember, if you have any concerns regarding your child, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Congratulations to our Prep 6 girls for their outstanding performance at the Midlands Hockey Tournament. Your support, as parents and grandparents, at these events is greatly appreciated by both the sports staff and the girls.

Looking ahead, mark your calendars for our annual PTFA Chocolate Bingo on Wednesday 17 April from 1600-1730 in the Drill Hall – a sweet tradition not to be missed! Tickets will be available on the door for £3 each. CASH ONLY, please. Parents are more than welcome to come along and play – it’s quite good fun!  We would ask that Pre-prep children (and any Prep 3 who might need help quickly finding numbers up to 99) are accompanied by an adult. We are happy for one adult to supervise groups of two or three children if that helps those parents that are unable to attend.  If your child is not collected from The Prep at 1545 they will be taken to the Drill Hall to be collected from there.  Any child not collected from the Drill Hall by 1730 will be returned to The Prep to be collected by 1800.  If your child usually gets the bus on a Wednesday they will not go to chocolate bingo and will be taken to the bus at 1620 unless you contact Helen Heron [email protected] to the contrary.

Communication in the Holiday

Please do keep non-urgent emails to a minimum this holiday; our staff benefit from time away from their desks and a good break too. Please do send any enquiries or issues to [email protected] in the first instance.

Transport

If you have any changes to your transport requirements for the Summer Term and have not yet communicated this to us, please do so as soon as possible by emailing [email protected].

Summer Term 2024 Calendar

The calendar for the Summer Term will be published online, as usual, over the course of the next few days. Do please keep an eye on the calendar over the course of the whole term, as alterations and additions will be posted online, as and when necessary.

Finally, a friendly reminder that children will be back in school on Tuesday 16 April. Please ensure pupils and parents are rested as we gear up for a busy Summer Term on our return.
