Week 15 Head of Prep Newsletter

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We've nearly made it to the end of the Michaelmas term, and what an incredible journey it has been! This week has been particularly busy and filled with memorable moments.

Our Pre-Prep Nativity was a heart-warming start to the week, despite the chilly chapel. Our super pupils' performance quickly warmed everyone's hearts. To celebrate their fantastic effort, the Pre-Prep pupils were treated to a well-deserved chocolate treat. A big thank you to all the parents and grandparents who came to support, and a special thanks to our dedicated staff who worked tirelessly to make the nativity possible. We are grateful to Rev. Darren for his role in leading the Pre-Prep Christingle event. His involvement is vital as it helps our children understand the importance of community and sharing during this special tradition, fostering valuable life lessons.

Mrs Baker led a fantastic Christmas sing-along at breaktime, which got us all in the festive mood. Her efforts are greatly appreciated.  Mrs John also treated us all to carols on arrival this morning.

We also owe a big thank you to the members of the PTFA who funded and organised the Christmas disco, which was a blast for all the children (and staff) and the Christmas fair, which added to the festive spirit.

The end of term assembly was a highlight, where Dr Baker helped us to celebrate the individual successes of our pupils. It's truly remarkable to see their growth and achievements.

Michaelmas End of Term Reports

End of term reports for all year groups will be available on the Parent Portal for viewing from Monday 18th December. These can be found by logging into your usual Parent Portal account https://denstonecollege.parents.isamshosting.cloud  - and clicking on your child’s name followed by ‘school reports.’ Any queries over access to Parent Portal can be sent to [email protected].

Choral Concert - Parent and Staff Choir

In preparation for this year's Choral Concert we will again be rehearsing a parent and staff choir during the Lent term. This is open to parents, staff, and ODs, and rehearsals will be taking place on Monday evenings from 7.00pm to 8.00pm, in the music school. All abilities and experience are welcome, and there is no audition - just come along and sing! If you would like any further information, please contact the Director of Music, Luke Wynell-Mayow, at [email protected]. This year, we are going to be working on Haydn's brilliant 'Nelson Mass'.  The first rehearsal will be Monday 8 January, to get us off to an early start! The concert itself will be on Thursday 25 April, at 7.00pm

As we approach the Christmas break, I want to extend my warmest wishes to all of you. May your holidays be filled with joy, laughter, and precious moments with loved ones. We look forward to welcoming the students back on Tuesday, 9 January. Clubs will commence on the first day back.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Best wishes,

Tracey Davies
