Newsletter - The Prep

Dear Prep Parents and Guardians,

I hope this newsletter finds you well and filled with excitement for the upcoming events, the summer term is always a busy one. As we approach the end of the week, I wanted to take a moment to celebrate the successful week of trips and residentials that our pupils have just experienced. It has been truly wonderful to witness the joy and enthusiasm radiating from our students as they return to the prep this week, bursting with stories and memories.

In other news, I am sure that you will join me to extend our warmest congratulations to Mr and Mrs Parker on the birth of their son, Zachary Oliver. We wish them all the best as they embark on the beautiful journey of parenthood.

Following extensive review and consultation, we are delighted to invest in our catering provision at Denstone College. From September 2023, new menus alongside a state-of-the art new servery will enhance the catering provision for all of our community. Our Food Committee have been instrumental in providing feedback in this area of school life and our catering team have enjoyed the opportunity to really showcase what they can do. We look forward to sharing some imagery and plans in due course. This is a particularly exciting proposition and I trust that everyone will feel a real sense of progress in our provision in this important area for the start of the new school year.

A reminder to you that our Open Morning is tomorrow. We will be opening our doors to prospective parents and pupils who are eager to experience the magic of Denstone College first-hand. This event serves as an excellent opportunity for them to explore our facilities, meet our dedicated staff, and get a taste of the enriching educational environment we offer. We encourage you to spread the word and invite any families who may be interested.

As part of the Prep 6 transition to the College, we are allowing pupils to visit the cafe in small groups. They will go on a Wednesday break time when it is slightly quieter. They will be unsupervised and trusted to behave correctly. If you would like your child to attend, please can you send in a maximum of £3, in cash, on the day they have been selected. Mr Bettaney will organise the groups and a timetable will be on display in the Prep 6 classroom so pupils will have plenty time to organise.

Please share with your child the attached information regarding art and literacy entries for the exhibition taking place at our 150th Birthday. Pupils may wish to enter both or either of the Art and Literature exhibitions. Entries to be handed to form teachers by 23 June.
